Wakaranai Lodgewakaranai

Saturdayssss of Wakaranai

Back

the sun was shining

sunny hillside near the stream with fresh spring growth

A bit of a lazy saturday morning. Playoff basketball, got my goat from the start, and I am still not 100% after being sick.

I then had some time to dial in our shopping list for obihiro tomorrow, as we try to get the sink finished up, and move on to our stairwell project on the guest side. we are going to clad the walls with plywood, both for protection, and to lighten it up a bit, so measuring all that out.

We then spent some time outside, walking around, talking layout, and thinking/dreaming about what we can do. It is such a cool space out there, and I am really quite excited about how we can transform it. We will speak with our carpenter homie more about the yoga platform/deck, and the sauna, and then make a plan, and wait and see if we get that subsidy for the outdoor revitalization project.

Then today wrapped up with a nice dinner, and some more thought about our creative side of Wakaranai. In our time spent down at Rainbow Disco Club, and in Tokyo, meeting all sorts of cool people, we thought a lot about what we want this space to be for people. A lot of people asked us, so what is it? And I guess I replied, its a ski lodge, and creative residency, but then when pushed by people, I said, well the name is Wakaranai, at the end of the day, its just a place, what makes it what it is, is the people that come through the door. So I guess, as we are thinking more about what we want to do going forward, a big piece of this is being the place people can come. For the creative things, we are calling it Wakaranai Escapes, or atleast that is the name we are at now. It is made up of the creative resets, retreats, and residency.

Sorry that sounded like a marketing shpeal there, but yeah, just thinking it out in real time and putting it into words. I talk about it write about it, and then it becomes it, kinda cool doing your own thing like that, but that's wakaranai for you. Each day at a time. I am excited for this to become what it can be, and now its just one day at a time, doing what we can, trying not to get overwhelmed by the growing list on the wall of things to do.

Anyways.

have a great day n wakaranai
